“Wow! What a trip this book was … a roller coaster ride of emotions, The Dark Rising turns out to be Vance and Portia's biggest challenge yet. There are so many twists and turns in this book, you will not be able to put in down! I'm not sure how much longer I can wait until I read the final book in this series!” ~Tishia Mackey, Paranormal Opinion

"Dark and deadly dangerous. This fourth installment in the fantastic Of Witches and Warlocks series is filled with love and passion and loyalty, even as Vance and Portia fight against the evil that threatens to destroy everything and everyone they love. But this time, will their intense love for each other be enough to overcome? Twists and turns abound, leading to a completely unexpected conclusion. I just couldn't put it down!" ~ Kim Deister, The Caffeinated Diva

“Once again, Lacey Weatherford has demonstrated her ability to craft a magnificent tale that is dark and dangerous, but filled with love and hope. Of Witches and Warlocks continues with The Dark Rising and Wow! You are not ready for this one! Hold on for the ride of your life as Portia and Vance continue to battle the darkness. Will their love be enough? Wonderfully written. Couldn't put it down!”

~ Beverly Sharp, The Wormhole Book Blog, Eyota, MN.
“Lacey Weatherford cast a spell on me ever since she penned The Trouble With Spells, making me a huge fan of Portia and Vance. The Dark Rising is about recovery, recollection and reconnection. There is heartbreak, hope, action, and blindsiding twists to satisfy any reader, but it is Weatherford's signature style of being such an unabashedly romantic that has me firmly attached and invested in these characters. When I begin a story by Lacey I know I will be entertained and mesmerized, but I will also feel incredibly strong emotions for her characters. That's the sign of a great writer. Thank you, Lacey. Now can I have the next book, please?” ~ Laurie Treacy, Reader Girls Reviews

"You can't help but fall in love with all the characters. There is this raw vitality in them that just appeals to us all! Lacey makes my belief in soulmates stronger, no matter how fictional the book may be. This epic journey is sure to leave you breathless and wondering when you decided to sit on this roller coaster of emotions!" - Sana Noor from Breathing Books

The Dark Rising Of Witches and Warlocks Book 4 eBook Lacey Weatherford

Having loved the last book in this series, I am disappointed in this one. It lacks the one element that makes the previous books special and strong. The close relationships are very important to the fabric of this series, at least they are for me. The writing is full of heart-wrenching moments, pure evil, and very little happiness.

The book does have a few interesting twists. Meeting Hex is one of the better things in this story. He is a marvelous character who does care a lot about Portia. In my eyes, he provides a bit of the familial closeness missing from this story.

I am afraid that this book does very little to further my enchantment with this series. 3 stars

The Dark Rising Of Witches and Warlocks Book 4 eBook Lacey Weatherford Reviews

OK, if you have read my other reviews on this series you know I have had my doubts . But hey, how is an author to really know if her work is that good and where she can improve....if all she sees is the gushing 5 star reviews of those who were just happy to read something that held their attention. I questioned Ms. Laceys merit. I had never read anything of her works until now and although dissapointed at first, I gave her a chance to prove to me the vision she must have had when writing this series. I know she had emotional attachments to the characters and believed in the plot. For me, Reading this series was like aquiring a taste for something I was prepared not to like. Now that I am on book 4 ,I salute Lacey Weaterford as an excellent writer and I will say, without giving anythjing away, that this 4th book is the best of the lot. Electric, stimulating, dramatic and suspenceful and the romance sexy and full of the stuff real love should be all about. I cheered Portia and Vance on .... laughed and cried and related to much of what they were going thru.
This was an incredible book and the ending is another cliff hanger.... it just keeps getting better and better. You just GOTTA BELIEVE in the series even when it starts out weak . I can't wait to read more from this author. Thank you Ms. Weatherford (

As with my other reviews on the series. I purchased the whole series after getting the first book free, thinking, "hey, they aren't that expensive." Although I quickly learned why. While the stories aren't as bad as some books I have read, there were man editorial issues. Nothing ruins a book faster than grammar problems, or worse yet the wrong word or missing words! I still didn't mind the reads, certainly for the younger crowd. Not really young adult, more like early teen.
Lacey Weatherford is absolutely killing me with how good these endings are! I have had the same reaction to the last two book conclusions, which has been 'WHAT? NO! NEXT BOOK!'
Something I loved about this book (but maybe I could be wrong now??) is that no matter what, Vance always chooses Portia. If that does not define true love, or soul mates, then I don't know what does. The other thing I loved about this book was Portia's personality. I loved, loved, loved, that she did not sit around weeping the entire book, and instead stood up to Vance, and didn't allow him to tell her what to do (except for one scene). In this book she very much reminded me of Elena Gilbert from 'The Vampire Diaries', another character that I love dearly.
Now I will be waiting impatiently for January tenth to discover what will come of this cliff hanger. Once again, job well done Lacey Weatherford!(
I actually decided to skip the third book in this series simply because the opportunity to read the fourth came along and I couldn’t pass it up! And yes, should I get the chance to read the third I certainly will do so … however, I had an alright time keeping up either way. This book I find is a bit darker than the others, and a lot less happy … course I did miss the book where someone dies … won’t say who though in case you haven’t either! As usual Lacey is full of surprises, twists, turns and WTF’s? The whole book was exciting and I couldn’t put it down until the end. Of course the queen of cliffhangers left us with another, and the next book doesn’t make an appearance until NEXT year … Lacey truly does know how to write a good book … and torture us who want to read more… Can’t wait for that next book!
I'm sure this is a fine novel if one is into gratuitous violence and profound stupidity, And bringing a monster back from the dead so that the ensuing piece of garbage (the next novel) can have more of the same, piled higher and deeper? Sorry, kids, my stomach just cannot take any more. I got enough of all that before I retired from the service.

After a fairly good start ms Weatherford's series started to slide downhill. But I hung in there, hoping she would run out of nastiness. The premise of this story, a demon being brought back from the dead by a charm formulated by good witches was hokey enough, bur, hopefully our head-in-the-sand heroine could overcome all, and our protagonists could start using their super powers to make the world a better place. But no, she brings back dear old dad, a murdering monster.

Thanks, but no thanks, No more of ms Weatherford for me
1. EVERY SINGLE BOOK IN THIS SERIES has so many grammar mistakes, it really distracts from the story!
2. I read the other books, but by book 3 I totally skimmed through the rest of the stories, I felt like I'd end one paragraph of kissing and love professing and lovemaking only to re-read it two sentences later... very repetitive and oh so frustrating!
3. Not to mention I would never let my daughter read any of them, the books give girls/women a bad rep! I don't care how much you love someone, if you're soul mates or bound with magic, I would never stay with or fight for someone who abused me ( mentally, physically, or emotionally)! As the daughter of an abused mother this sickens me!
Having loved the last book in this series, I am disappointed in this one. It lacks the one element that makes the previous books special and strong. The close relationships are very important to the fabric of this series, at least they are for me. The writing is full of heart-wrenching moments, pure evil, and very little happiness.
